Laguna Tools DS1632#
The DS1632 is a drum sander, driven by a belt. The belt is 16" wide, but can accommodate 2 passes.
A drum sander is a great alternative to a planer, when you want to clean up or finish a flat surface quickly.
The sandpaper on the drum sander can be changed out for different grits.
Prerequisites for Use#
Safety Notices#
Note
PLEASE READ ALL SAFETY NOTICES BEFORE CONTINUING

Wear short sleeves or roll up long sleeves
Secure loose clothing
Tie up and tuck in long hair
Remove lanyards, jewelry, gloves, etc.

Safety glasses mandatory.
Do not use on fibrous plastics (carbon fiber, fiberglass, etc)
Dust Collection#

The drum sander is not hooked up to the central dust collection system, so you will need to attach a vacuum hose to the top of the machine and have the vacuum on for the duration of the sanding process.
The drum sander produces fine particulate that can be hazardous to our respiratory system.
Make sure vacuum is attached and turned on before turning on drum sander.
Operation#

- On/Off Switch: Turns on the drum. This runs at a fixed speed.
- Speed Control: Turns on the belt drive for feeding material. Will sense too much engage and adjust speed (Intellifeed) to avoid damaging the workpiece.
- DRO: Shows the height adjustments.
Adjusting the Height#
- By default, you can raise/lower the drum with the fine adjust. This handle moves approx 1/16 of an inch per revolution.
- You can turn the adjust toggle in to then be able to use the coarse adjust.
- Once the adjust toggle is engaged, you can lift or lower the whole sanding drum via the coarse adjust handle.
